What it looks like when it works
What are we missing?
Melissa and I were in our home office with our P&L, our balance sheet, and every month of the year so far. We handed all of it to AI and asked it to read our numbers the way a consultant who knows trailer repair shops would. Then we added the bay data: every order, every repair, every part we bought.
We didn’t ask for a report. We kept asking one question. What are we missing? What should we be asking that we aren’t?
We knew our efficiency was down. We didn’t know our margins were holding through a slow stretch anyway. It showed us inventory sitting on the shelf and holes in our big national accounts. That month our sales guys worked their call list in a new order, and a few accounts nobody was watching turned out to be climbing.
Most of it we already knew in our heads. We’d just never seen it laid out.
You already know more than you think. Ask better questions.

Sound familiar?
You already know what’s broken.
- The Bottleneck
If I’m gone for a week, things start falling apart.
- Knowledge Risk
If my best person quit tomorrow, half of how we do things walks out the door.
- Flying Blind
I couldn’t tell you if this month beat last month.
- The People Problem
I’m doing that job myself because I can’t fill it.
- AI Noise
I’ve paid for software nobody uses. Now everybody’s selling me AI.
None of that is a character flaw. It’s what happens when a business gets built around the people who started it. You may have all five. The check tells you which one to fix first.
Who you’re learning from
We run real businesses, not slide decks.

Why listen to us
Operators, not tech people.
We’re Steve and Melissa Fultz. Our family’s business started in 1964. We’re the second generation, and our daughter is the third.
We learned AI the hard way, by trial and error, so we could stop hiring developers we couldn’t even talk to. We don’t sell software and we’re not an agency. When the honest answer is “you don’t need a tool for that,” that’s the answer you’ll get.
The other way in
Opened AI once, stared at the box, and closed it?
That’s most owners, and none of it was your fault. Nobody handed you the first sentence.
The Question Book is 30 real conversations with the exact words to type. Twenty-three prompts copy with one tap. Free, no login. Read it on the couch.

Straight answer
Who this is for.
It’s for you if
- You own or run a business that builds, fixes, hauls, or makes things.
- You’ve been at it long enough to know the work cold.
- You keep hearing you’re behind on AI and don’t know where to start.
- You want a straight answer, not a sales demo.
It’s not for you if
- You’re shopping for software. We don’t sell any.
- You want somebody to do it all for you this week.
- You’re a tech person. This will feel slow, on purpose.
No wrong answer. If it’s not for you, you’ve lost five minutes at most.
